AARP Debate Update

As those of you who’ve been following the election are likely already aware, the Democratic gubernatorial primary has been deemed “too close to call” with Peter Shumlin leading Doug Racine by a margin of less than 200 votes. According to Racine’s website, he and Shumlin have agreed to wait until the official results are released by the Secretary of State, which could be anywhere from Friday to Tuesday. According to a comment by a Seven Days reporter, the organizer of the AARP, Dave Reville, stated that, “if there’s a recount, the debate will be postponed, and a makeup date would depend on how long the recount takes.” As such, we’re putting the “Let Dennis Speak” rally, planned for tomorrow at 6pm, on hold until we hear definitely whether or not the event will be happening. Should it be postponed, we will, of course, be congregating outside of it on the new date.

*UPDATE* The AARP just announced the debate is being postponed to September 26th – hope to see you outside with a Dennis Steele sign!
